Road Safety in Wales

UK Registered Charity 1054640

Background

The Association’s work in Wales is supported by the Welsh Assembly Government and the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA Wales).

Supporting Road Safety in Wales was a key AIRSO project for 2007 and was lead by the 2007 Chair of AIRSO Lyn Morris who is a Road Safety Officer for Carmarthenshire County Council. The aim now is for this to become an annual event. Working with the Welsh Assembly Government and RoSPA Wales, AIRSO is seeking to help and develop strategies with:

  • Those who are involved in the practice and⁄or promotion of road safety with regard to the delivery of education and⁄or training.
  • Those who have a responsibility for enforcement of road traffic law and health & safety legislation particularly appertaining to those who drive for work.
  • Those who are concerned with policies and practices related to traffic management in both the Highway Authorities and the private sector.
  • Those with responsibilities for developing road safety and risk management policies within the statutory and non-statutory services, commerce and industry and the voluntary sectors.

It welcomes dialogue with any of the above with a view to offering support and help in developing programmes, strategies and policies aimed at reducing casualties on the road in the principality.
